Hello everyone. I have a question regarding club dues. Our club charges dues per family and not per player. Last year when we tried to create some logic via the form of a question, some families answering the question incorrectly didn't pay dues at all. I want to try and make this as foolproof as possible so that every family is charged dues, but I also don't want families with multiple players to be charged more than once for their dues. The system appears to be built on a per player basis rather than allow me to charge one fee for an entire transaction. Does that make sense? At the moment, I have a question on the player information page that asks if this player is the first player they are registering. I have a pulldown with two options. Without being too wordy the options are simply Yes and No. The Yes answer is tied to a store item which bills the club dues. The No answer has no store item attached to it. While this still leaves a little wile room for someone to just simply answer No and bypass the club dues, I am thinking this is my only option at this point.
Anyone have any other suggestions? As a side note, the dues are separate from the season costs which are billed per player. At the moment I am using the age group selection as a means to bill the larger season costs so that each player will be billed. Thanks, Tony Hart

In the meantime, does what I am proposing above sound like the best way to go about this? Have you seen any other solutions that might be a better solution? Thanks, Tony

You have a couple options. First option is if they can register all the players at the same time you can set up a discount rule that will not charge for the 2nd, 3rd an so on players. However they need to be registered at the same time. During the registration it gives you the option to register another player, they would need to select yes and register their other players. At checkout they will only be charged for the first player. Below is a the discount rule that give 50% off (we use) to the 2nd plus players registered. You could set yours at 100%. The second image is a look inside the discount rule. The second option is below the second image. The other option is just use a 100% off discount code. Have them register the one player and then email you and you can create a discount code and send it to them for the other players after the first player is registered. Tony, I'll add to this.
Our hockey association has a player fee that is $200 for the 1st player, $200 for the 2nd, and $50 for the 3rd. We ask in the registration if this is your 1st, 2nd, or 3rd player and charge accordingly. 99% of families do it the right way and get charge appropriately. We've had a few select "3rd" when it's their first or second child to try and bypass the fees, but we just used PowerPay to send them the amount they owe. __________________ Jim Dahline @jdahline
