A parent brought this issue up to me. She and her husband each have a login on our SportsEngine site that uses Dibs. Their sons are registered to the husband's login. When she claims Dibs items, it shows her her son in the drop-down and so they get the proper credit. However when she clicks the "My Dibs: View all of my currently claimed dibs", it shows nothing.

I was able to duplicate this with my own wife where our son is registered with my account. She can claim dibs for his behalf but her "my currently claimed dibs" screen is empty. She also noted that she doesn't get reminder emails for her upcoming claimed dibs, where I noted that I was receiving them for her dibs. I checked and her account is linked to our son's SportsEngine profile. Should I also add her email?

I'm actually seeing reports of this now with accounts with just one parent. Can someone look at this and tell me what is being done wrong?

I'd love to know what you get as an answer as I've found that Dibs doesn't work the way I'd like it to work.  I was told that the drop-down for the athlete doesn't really do anything and I haven't been able to figure out a way to run reports against that name.

Hi there,

I can add a little color to the way Dibs works today. As you have noticed that today only the account under which the child is created can see claimed Dibs as well as completion status. If a family has two accounts (like described above), the parent under which the child account is should be the one that claims the Dibs item. This will allow tracking completion and keep everything nice and tidy for the family and the organization.

To know the family member actually DOING the work, that's the purpose of the fulfiller field which can include contact info for that particular fulfiller should the organization need to contact them.

Also, the athlete field is critical! This is how Dibs get rolled up to a particular player. For example, say there is a family with two athletes and you need to fulfill 10 credits for one of athletes. You should always be selecting for whom the work is being done. This then applies those credits to that athlete.

On the admin side, all of the exports include both the athlete and fulfiller information which is how an admin would reconcile the numbers.

Now with all that being said, there is room for improvement regarding having more than 1 account associated with an athlete. We have some changes coming out this winter that should start changing the way this works. Keep your eyes open for those in Q1 and Q2

Thanks Rob,

This is different than what your support folks told me. They suggested that my wife should also add our son as a subprofile on her household (meaning we'd both have him listed under the Household tab). However she doesn't have a "Household" tab on her SE profile like I do.

This is somewhat disappointing and very confusing. If you allow different profiles to claim dibs on behalf of an athlete, then you should allow those profiles to view the dibs they claim. Otherwise you should only allow Dibs to be claimed from the primary profile and avoid the confusion altogether. But then you have issues with couples like ours where I don't like to share profiles (especially since I'm admin/webmaster and don't want my wife to have to look at all that junk), or divorced parents that REALLY don't want to share profiles.

Furthermore, every since Saturday, I've been getting mail rejection emails saying that your support email inbox is full and not accepting any new mail.

Don.

Bumping this as I continue to get complains and confusion around this.

People assume that if they can claim dibs for a player, that they would be able to view claimed dibs for that player.

Thanks for comment re: Dibs functionality.  We'll continue to look at ways to make this integration work efficiently between Guardians and Dibs.
