Hello,

Wondering if anyone out there can confirm for me what the Minimum Requirements are for the new Team Chat feature to work in the mobile App? We have some members using older iPhones (5c) and they cannot see Team Chat messages.

Hello!
Our chat capability is available on the SportsEngine App versions 5.8 and above.

SportsEngine versions 5.8 and above can be installed on iOS devices running iOS 10 and above. I believe the iPhone 5C does support up to iOS 10.3.1 so your team members should be able to get the current version of the SportsEngine app.

One other limitation that you'll want to check out is that Chat is available for rostered team members and their guardians only. Please make sure that the users who aren't seeing Team Chat are on SportsEngine 5.8 and above and they are rostered to your team!

Hi Brad,

I think you might be mistaken. Still having issues with the 5c so I contacted support. They said Team Chat does not work on iPhone 5c or 5s. Is that correct? Because I’ve gotten different responses now.

I'll have to sync up with support to see where they heard that chat doesn't work on the 5c and 5s. I know that from a development standpoint our app works with iOS 10.0 and above and according to Apple's website the 5c and 5s capable of running iOS 10.3.1. We have a 5s here in the office for testing and team chat does work so I'm wondering if there's a bug not inherent to the 5c and 5s that you happen to be running into.

Can you confirm that your 5c is running iOS 10 or above, and that you have installed SportsEngine 5.8 or above as well (our current version is 5.10)?

It'd also be great to understand what specifically are you seeing when you attempt to use TeamChat. Are you chat functionality appear in your app (on a team landing page and/or in the global navigation)? Are you unable to send chat messages or unable to receive them? Is there an error message you're seeing?

I'd love to dig into this more if you can provide more information.

My team chat problem is that I receive the alerts that chats are being generated - but my app "chat" shows no chats, the only message I have is the generic "No Chats, yet.  It's a little lonely in here, etc."  Why can't I see my team parents chats?  I sent several chats, and I am not seeing those either.
I have an iPhone 5S and my current iOS is 10.3.3 
How do I check the version of SportEngine that I have on my phone?  I tried deleting the app then re-download it to "refresh" it - I still cannot view any chats.  No error messages received thus far. Help!

Thanks for reaching out. We have identified the bug with our chat capability on devices running iOS 10.3.3 - the bug has been fixed and will be a part of our next app release (5.15) which should be available for iPhone users in the next week or so.

As for checking what version of the SportsEngine app you have: just go to the My Account page, tap the settings cog in the top right corner, and scroll to the bottom of the page. You'll see the version at the bottom of the screen.

Thanks Brad! My SportEngine version is 5.14.0 so here's to next week's potential success with my team chat viewing once version 5.15 is available.
